The feeling is mutual I assure you. If you think all feminism is doing is voicing opinions you haven’t been paying the fuck attention.
Teen Charged with Sexting Girlfriend will be Forced to get an Erection via an Injection and be Photographed by Police
So, in Virginia, a 17-year-old and his 15-year-old girlfriend were sexting with each other. The boy gets arrested on two felony charges,…
You’re literally comparing an imageboard (I assume you’re talking about /b/ and not the entirety of 4chan because that would be ridiculous, the audiences vary too much for that) that posts (This isn’t cherrypicked by the way, I went there again for the first time in probably 2 years just yesterday, and this what I saw on the first 3 pages of /b/)
- irl gore
- livestreams of women being fucked by dogs
- (links/torrents) to child porn
"Waaah! Stop picking on tumblr! 4chan is at fault for EVERYTHING!"
Honey, were not aware that it was idiots from tumblr that deliberately went to 4chan to stir up shit in the first place? They went in determined to “shut down” 4chan. The saddest part of all? It was someone on /pol/ that made the “#shutdown4chan” blog AS A JOKE. Most of us (upon realizing this) thought nothing of it (beyond finding it incredibly pointless). People on tumblr were literally inadvertently baited into taking part in reckless, misguided behavior, and on a national holiday, no less. If they couldn’t tell a an obvious troll from someone with genuine intent, what exactly does that say about them? They have seriously become cartoonish exaggerations. Frankly, I think people around here should be legitimately concerned about what other ill-intentioned “crusades” the social justice morons on this site might willfully commit if they believe they have enough “support” for it.
Also, I highly doubt that there were links to child pornography, as 4chan cooperates with the FBI to track down people attempting to circulate such material. In fact, they were the ones who took down a child pornography ring. If there was someone trying to circulate child pornography, they were probably banned immediately, and are likely soon to be apprehended. As for the allegations of bestiality videos, I’m guessing you forgot about a couple of years ago, when people would intentionally send their friends links to 2 Girls, 1 Cup, or any number of “shock sites” on the internet. There’s a difference between people of truly disreputable conduct, and a bunch of presumably college-aged numbskulls just sitting around trying to gross each other out.
Also, I can’t help but laugh at how seriously you’re taking the words of anonymous posters on an image board. If you really think these people honestly believe or would take part in half the things they claim, then I’ve got a bridge in San Francisco to sell you. Anyone with half a brain knows that none of these chucklefucks would have the cojones to act that way to anyone’s face. Meanwhile, you’re trying to use this to “prove” something. Someone, please - catch me if I die laughing on my feet.
(meanwhile on tumblr, 10000 posts about helping suicidal people and hotlines)
- a bunch of people who want to be called “fairy” instead of “him” or whatever
- a bunch of marginalized people not wanting to be called words that have a long history of suffering, violence, murder and rape behind them
- human beings wanted to be treated (and treating each other) as human beings
The fact that you’re trying to make it seem as if tumblr is this innocent little hiding place for the most oppressed people in history is honestly sickening. There’s a difference between actual persecution, and attention-starved teenagers lowering the value of persecution in order to apply it to themselves in place of actually being an interesting enough person for anyone to give a shit about.
Frankly, if you’re looking for a place to find human beings being treated like human beings, tumblr is pretty much the LAST place you should be looking. The thing you’re missing here is that tumblr has become an entirely hostile environment. If you haven’t noticed this yet, then you’re either hardly ever here, or you must follow only a specific subset of people. Also, let’s go over a few of the entirely bullshit things tumblr has done:
- Circulating false statistics about rape, and then literally becoming enraged when they find out that women aren’t being victimized as much as they were led to believe. Wow, that’s a super-healthy attitudes towards women. These are definitely the people I want standing up for my rights. NOT.
- Giving someone’s personal information to a potential rapist. Again - perpetrated by a “feminist”. This has happened TWICE now.
- Making up and passing around false stories of sexual assault on children. This, too, has happened at least twice now.
- Calling in false bite reports in order to get someone’s domesticated pet taken away and euthanized, simply because they were against the owners having it for a pet.
- Constantly trying to hijack tragedies, and try to use them as a political step stool, regardless of the feelings of the families and friends of the deceased (including literally erasing the fact that there were twice as many male victims as female in the Elliot Rodger case, and even claiming they were “accidental” killings , when three of them were his first victims, and were stabbed to death, and despite that Rodger himself expressed a hatred of men, as well as an intent to kill “anyone in sight”), not to mention that his blog was literally filled with posts about how much he hated full-blooded Asian men.
- Someone on here is currently facing jail for pushing razorblades in front of their suicidal sister, and telling her to kill herself for having “straight-passing privilege”.
- Here’s a teenage girl trying to sabotage the charity drive to save a little boy’s life, and then trying to make his attempted suicide all about her. Mind you, she and her followers are people that perpetrate the exact same kind of bullying that this boy tried to end his life over. And they still continue to do it.
- Here are her followers threatening people with death and violence over things as pointless as fandom polls.
This is nowhere near the tip of the iceberg of foul shit that people here are perpetrating under the guise of “activism”.
Meanwhile, /b/ is flipping out over some some trolls from /pol/, making plans pathetic enough to make tumblr laugh at them…
Honey, I’m pretty sure /b/ stopped giving a shit a long time ago.
- Tumblr takes every goddamn thing as though it’s deadly fucking serious, to the point where people are afraid to voice their opinions on their favorite cookies, lest it somehow “offends” someone.
Oh, and by the way, here is only a tiny sampling of the things tumblr spreads around without checking the facts behind.
If you like something, and express it, 4chan will tell you it’s terrible just to piss you off.Do this on Tumblr, and someone will claim you’re “oppressing them” simply because they don’t happen to like it.
Here ya go - here’s someone throwing a fit over the “I came out to have a good time, etc.” joke. And if you seriously haven’t already seen worse, then you must have been under some kind of a quarantine.
A lot of the people on 4chan will act like unapologetic assholes, but at least they’re not self-righteous about it. And, if shown legitimate proof of something, (based on what I’ve seen) they’ll usually accept it, whereas Tumblr prefers to pass around bogus statistics, and cling to emotional pleas, rather than logic.
4chan often behaves like idiots, but they’re aware that they’re behaving like idiots. That’s the whole point. People go there to be anonymous assholes on purpose. Meanwhile, Tumblr is filled with bullies and rejects that think they’re doing the world a goddamn favor by acting like snide, entitled little shit mongers.
4chan will call you a “faggot” regardless of gender identity, which appears to be generally understood to the point where no one even gives a shit anymore.
Tumblr becomes irrationally outraged when you somehow don’t already magically know the “preferred pronouns” of someone you hadn’t even heard of before, even when these “pronouns” are complete crocks of shit like “bunself”, or “princesself”. They then become indignant if you don’t fall to your knees and cater to every last one of their demented little demands, and treat them like the extra special little snowflake that they think they are.
4chan fields obvious inflammatory comments with relative ease, simply by dismissing them as stupid, humoring them for a laugh, or ignoring them from the start. When vitriol does happen, at least it’s mostly reserved to two morons having a witless tennis match of words while everyone else goads them on for the sake of entertainment.
Tumblr takes every goddamn thing as though it’s deadly fucking serious, to the point where people are afraid to voice their opinions on their favorite cookies, lest it somehow “offends” someone.
4chan will bust your nuts until you can prove a claim you’ve made.
Tumblr will gladly make viral the “news” that the sky has suddenly turned neon green, and is raining Nickelodeon Gak - if there’s enough of an emotional, impassioned plea to do so. Especially if they claim their “child” or “younger sibling” saw (and was upset by) this “incident”.
If you like something, and express it, 4chan will tell you it’s terrible just to piss you off.
Do this on Tumblr, and someone will claim you’re “oppressing them” simply because they don’t happen to like it. Then, through emotional manipulation, they try to spread the mindset that you’re somehow “scum” just for enjoying something that they don’t.
While I wouldn’t recommend it as a place to go to “have fun”, 4chan has actually become more welcoming than tumblr at this point.
And that’s just fucking sad.
- While I wouldn’t recommend it as a place to go to “have fun”, 4chan has actually become more welcoming than tumblr at this point.
No really - I want the examples you’re talking about that I magically haven’t come across in 3 years. Because I usually ignore the dumb stuff as well (Shock horror, I know!) and if there’s something really widespread that isn’t on the same level of horrid as 4chan’s usual replies to something, you can show me, I’ll be waiting.
…You’re kidding, right? I have firsthand witnessed multiple rape victims being victim-blamed for disagreeing with someone’s methods of “activism”. They were called “rape enablers”, as if they actually invited the most traumatic experience of their lives onto themselves. I have seen transwomen being called “men just trying to invade womens’ spaces”, and transmen being called “gender traitors just trying to obtainb privilege”.
On a painful number of occasions, I’ve seen others assuming the race, gender, and sexual orientations of others simply because those people did not agree with their views. Hell - I’ve already had it happen to myself more times than I can remember. I’ve seen genuinely disabled people being told they aren’t capable of thinking for themselves, as well as watched people talk over the top of minorities.
Overall, you have done nothing but hinge your “argument” on logical fallacies (come on, kids! Let’s count them together!): You used the Appeal to Worse Problems, the fallacy of Diminished Responsibility, Blind Loyalty, the fallacy of Tu Quoque, and Shifting the Burden of Proof.
If you honestly think tumblr is more welcoming than 4chan, then take a look at what tumblr “feminists” do to women who don’t agree with them: Stalk and obsessively harass them (including sexual harassment). Look at how many people on this site are threatened and bullied over the tiniest indiscretions. I don’t know how good your eyes are, but if you can’t see a problem here, then you must be fucking blind.
GODDAMN WHAT A SMACK DOWN.
You could just as easily that women’s issues are entirely because society deems them superior to men. Women being encouraged to not work, to not join the army or the police force, or any number of intersecting issues is because women’s lives are considered more valuable.
Dismissing a group’s issues simply because of a hand-waved interpretation of them is enormously disingenuous, shallow, and frankly offensive. The millions of male rape, suicide, death on the job, murder, and violence victims are not helped by such 2-dimensional reasoning. You’re essentially blaming men for their own problems, and what kind of cruel reasoning is that? What would you say to a male victim of any of the above? “Sorry, but you’re part of a collective male consciousness that you periodically plug into that’s responsible for all the suffering in the world, so tough luck, and wait around for feminism to get to you?”
When people blame feminism for issues facing, they’re not talking about useless theories like that, they’re talking about facts. It’s a historical fact that men are considerably less likely to receive custody in divorces because of the Tender Years Doctrine, advocated for by feminists. Before that, during a time of considerably greater sexism, men received default custody because they were the breadwinners. Men are demonized as rapists and ignored as victims because of gendered feminist campaigns that paint rape as solely male-perpetrated.
You’re so missing the point I don’t even know where to start. you have no idea what feminism is and I’m sure you don’t actually want to know.
No I’m pretty sure I have a good idea. I mean, hear I am, listing the factual history of feminism, and inequalities feminism is responsible for, that you are apparently fantastically ignorant of. Considering that, who is really the person who doesn’t understand feminism here?
I’m not blaming men or individuals, I’m blaming power dynamics. Seriously, google ‘male hegemony’ and get some knowledge, it’s out there for free!
I’ve googled it before! Not my jam. It’s a theory with so many holes in it it might as well apply for full sponge status by the lords of cleaning supplies Hegemonies protect their privileged classes; we’ve seen white supremacist societies where white people experienced superior lives in the areas of longevity, disease, suicide, crime, accidents, childhood emotional disorders, mental illness rates in general, alcoholism, and drug addiction, funding for healthcare, net worth, suffrage, achievement at work, achievement in education. Meanwhile, in reality, these inequalities don’t all run one way like they do in other hegemonic societies, they’re evenly distribution with both men and women. Most of the statistics I listed are unequal with relation to men. If there’s a male hegemony it’s a terrible one that’s backfiring more than half the time lmao.
More often than not, these arguments to justify criticizing men as a ‘power structure’ come off as thinly veiled bigotry, by which you blame a group for something they cannot help, like their form of sexual dimorphism. There’s no logical underpinning for it that justifies ‘male hegemony’ by itself; there just happens to also be no justification for bigotry.
Just because you can think of a nice argument doesn’t mean it’s true. Women aren’t considered more ‘valuable’. it’s a fact that in our culture women are generally considered ‘fragile’ and incapable of doing anything else than caring.
That’s obviously not true, considering men were given default custody of children prior to the Tender Years Doctrine. So ‘caring’ clearly wasn’t inherently apart of society’s views towards women in all things. Yet, women still were not drafted and remain the minority of victims of violence in nearly every category.
I mean lol, it’s pretty funny you’re complaining about my thinking up a nice argument, meanwhile you reference zero facts and expect people to take your poorly reasoned opinions as facts. They’re just theories. Clearly you’re not a science major of any sort, but in science massive amounts of evidence is needed for something to barely even be considered a theory. Just because you’ve convinced yourself of something, because it feels right, doesn’t mean it is. Come up with some serious basis in facts and economics and statistics for your theory, and then we’ll talk.
Plus, feminists never say that rape is solely male-perpetrated.
I guess I know feminism better than you after all! Do you know the Don’t Be That Guy campaign in Edmonton? It’s a feminism campaign that genders rape and inherently implies it’s solely male-perpetrated. What about the Men Can Stop Rape campaign? Another feminism-inspired campaign that doesn’t mention male victims of rape at all, and implies men are solely responsible for rape. The fact that you’re ignorant of these campaigns really calls into question you’re credibility when you sit on a high horse demanding other people understand feminism, when you don’t seem to understand it on even a basic level.
W: The men’s rights movement, legitimate cause or laughable, and why?
Laughable, since men aren’t oppressed because of their gender. Of course men can face gender-related issues, but these issues are usually caused by the idea that men are and should be superior to women. So basically, men’s rights activists are blaming the wrong people, because that’s exactly what feminists are fighting against,
Anyway, thanks for asking! :)
it’s actually anti-feminists like you who say that men should ‘enjoy’ rape when it’s perpetrated by a woman.
I’m not an anti-feminist or an MRA, but wtf? First of all you’re lumping masses of people together to construct some convenient argument filled with straw, but second of all, here are some anti-feminists who discovered that there are about as many male rape victims as female rape victims. If they honestly believe that men should enjoy rape when they’re raped by women, why would they bring attention to male rape victims? You do realize that ‘anti-feminism’ isn’t a movement, right? There’s no unifying structure to it like there is with feminism. It’s like being anti-religion; it can include militant atheists who burn down churches, or ex-Catholics who have become disenchanted and live their daily lives doing something else. And much much more. I have received death and rape threats from feminists, so excuse me if I don’t take it seriously when you say feminists are sugar plum fairies with sparkles coming out of their vajayjays.
